Stara Sokolova is one of the most renowned premium sljivovicas in Serbia, a symbol of the modern approach to producing the national spirit. It is made exclusively from the indigenous Serbian plum variety pozegaca, hand-picked at full ripeness from orchards in western Serbia.
The fruit is hand-sorted, mashed, naturally fermented without added yeast, and then double-distilled in traditional copper stills. After distillation, the brandy is aged for 5 years in oak casks, where it acquires its amber colour and develops a layer of subtle aromas of vanilla, dried fruit and gentle smoke.
It is served at room temperature in a small rounded glass (kupica), as an aperitif before a meal or as a digestif afterwards. The traditional sljivovica ritual in Serbia includes the toast ziveli before the first sip. Stara Sokolova has won multiple international awards for quality. WARNING: Contains 40 percent alcohol by volume. Sale prohibited to persons under 18 years of age.
