Vilijamovka is a brandy made from the Williams Bon Chretien pear variety, grown in Serbia for over 100 years, with the best results coming from orchards on the slopes around Topola and Aranjelovac in Sumadija. Kruska vilijamovka from the Kovacevic family distillery ranks among the most prestigious fruit brandies in the country.
Around 18 to 20 kilograms of fresh pears are needed for one litre of finished brandy. The pears are washed, mashed and naturally fermented over 21 days. After double distillation in a copper still, the result is a clear brandy with a robust alcohol structure (around 41 percent) yet exceptionally smooth flavour and intense fresh-fruit aroma that captures the full scent of a ripe pear.
Served chilled at 8 to 10 degrees, as a digestif after a heavy meal or in cocktails with fruit juices. A particular attraction is the bottle containing a pear that grew inside it (fruit-in-bottle technique) — the bottle is placed on a branch and the pear matures inside. WARNING: Contains 41 percent alcohol by volume. Sale prohibited to persons under 18 years of age.
