The Ministry of Tourism has unveiled a new Eastern Serbia heritage trail linking 14 significant archaeological and cultural sites.

The Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Serbia has officially opened a new cultural route, the Eastern Serbia Heritage Trail, which links 14 of the most important archaeological, medieval and ethnographic sites between Negotin and Donji Milanovac.

The trail includes the UNESCO site of Felix Romuliana near Zajecar, the prehistoric site of Lepenski Vir, the medieval monasteries of Vratna and Tumane, the ethno villages of Stara Planina and Golubac fortress. Total length is approximately 240 km and can be covered in three to five days, with recommended stopovers in Zajecar, Knjazevac and Donji Milanovac.

The trail is marked with a unified signage system featuring QR codes at every site, linking to audio guides and digital information in four languages. The Heritage Trail Pass entry ticket grants access to all sites at a 30 percent discount compared with individual entries.

The trail was developed in cooperation with the Republic Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments and the municipalities of Eastern Serbia. The official opening for visitors is planned for 1 May 2026.
